James and Nathaniel’s parents taught at public schools in low-income areas of Salinas and spent most of their summers dragging their kids camping in Big Sur, backpacking in Yosemite, and caravanning on surf trips down the Baja coast. These early life experiences provided important lessons for James and Nathaniel: 1) education is important, and 2) appreciate nature. These early lessons lead the Allen Brothers to UC Berkeley, where they studied environmental sciences, and, upon graduating, worked in the environmental consulting field. You can often catch up with James and Nate at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery, which is dangerously close to the Allterra Office.
